How to upload a TikTok video from your computer

If you edit on a computer, TikTok Studio lets you prepare the post without turning your phone into a transfer station. Review both the file and the settings it will be published with.

Prepare a finished export

Play the entire file before opening the upload form. Check for an accidental black frame, muted voice track or text outside the picture. If you edited for vertical viewing, review that export rather than relying only on the editor's preview.

Keep the project and a copy without added music so you can adapt the piece later. Give the final file a clear name. Uploading the wrong “final-final-3” is an organizational problem you can prevent before pressing Post.

Publish through TikTok Studio

  1. Check the account

Open TikTok Studio on the official website and sign in. Confirm the profile, especially if you use several accounts.

  2. Open Upload

Choose the file and let it upload. Read the supported formats and limits shown in the tool, as these can change.

  3. Complete the post

Write a relevant description, select a cover and review who can watch and which interactions you allow.

  4. Review and publish

Check the sound options and any available notices. When ready, publish and open the piece from your profile to verify the result.

Give the cover and description a job

Choose a cover that makes sense without playing the video. If it contains text, leave room so the crop does not make it unreadable. Your description can add context, a specific question or a detail that complements the piece.

You do not need to fill the description with unrelated hashtags. Write for someone who has just discovered you and does not know your usual references. If the video belongs to a series, use consistent naming so people can recognize the installments.

Check the post, not just the upload message

Watch the published video with headphones and then without sound. Is the voice clear? Can you read the text? Does the ending cut where you intended? If something is wrong, review the available options before deleting anything, and always keep your original.

An audio track being available on another network does not establish permission to use it here. Check your material's permissions and any TikTok notices. For a partnership post, also review the platform's relevant disclosure requirements.

  • Correct file checked from beginning to end.
  • Cover, description and visibility reviewed.
  • Original saved outside TikTok and published link checked.
