How to create a TikTok account and get it ready

Prepare your access, not just your username

Choose an email address or phone number you expect to keep. If you sign in through another account, protect that account too: it becomes part of your access to TikTok. Avoid temporary addresses or a phone belonging to someone helping you register.

Choose a username that is easy to say and type. If you already publish elsewhere, a consistent identity helps people recognize you. Prepare a simple alternative in case your first choice is taken, instead of adding a long string of hard-to-remember numbers.

Create the account step by step

1. Open the official app

   Download TikTok from your device's official app store and open the sign-up option.

2. Choose a sign-up method

   Select an available method and follow the prompts. Use accurate details and respect age and availability requirements in your region.

3. Complete verification

   If a code is requested, enter it only in the official registration flow you just started. Do not send it to someone else.

4. Prepare your profile

   Open your profile and add a recognizable picture, name and short bio. Check the result before sharing the link.

Decide what you want to make public

A useful bio explains what you make and what someone will find by following you. For example: “Testing recipes I can cook after work.” That is more concrete than a list of unrelated interests.

Review the privacy and interaction options available to your account. Do not accept every permission automatically: consider whether you need contact syncing, location sharing or a particular type of interaction. Keep your address, sensitive routines and recovery information out of the bio.

Check the basics before your first video

Open the security settings and work out how you would recover access if you lost your phone. Then prepare a small first piece: an introduction, a demonstration or one idea you can explain completely.
