How to switch to an Instagram creator account

First, check what will become public

If you are moving from a private account, review its posts and personal information. Switching to a creator account means having a public profile. Instagram also warns that pending follow requests are accepted when the account becomes public. Review that context before confirming.

Write down what you want from the tools: understanding audience response, organizing enquiries or developing a publishing routine. Changing the account type does not make those decisions for you or create a schedule you can maintain.

Enable the creator account

1. Open profile settings

   Visit your profile and open the menu. Find Account type and tools, or the equivalent section in your version.

2. Switch to professional

   Choose the professional-account option and select a category that describes your activity.

3. Choose Creator

   When asked for an account type, select Creator and complete the steps Instagram shows.

4. Review the result

   Return to your profile and open the professional dashboard. For an existing business account, look for account-type switching within its tools and controls.

Configure what is useful to you

Review the category and details displayed alongside your bio. Use a contact method you can manage without exposing information you would rather keep private. Look at the profile as a visitor would and confirm the result.
