How to upload a YouTube video without missing the essentials
Your edit is finished. Give the upload the same care as the recording: an accurate title, a fitting thumbnail and the visibility setting you actually intended to use.
Prepare the file and the post
Play the full export, not just its first minute. Look for black frames, missing audio and text outside the crop. Keep a copy of the finished file and distinguish it from drafts: a date and version number can stop you uploading the wrong edit.

Upload through YouTube Studio
Choose the file
In YouTube Studio, use Create and then the video upload option. Check that you are on the correct channel.
Fill in the details
Add the title, description and thumbnail. Set the made-for-kids audience option accurately and review other settings relevant to your content.
Read the checks
Look at copyright notices and restrictions. An upload with no warnings can still receive a claim later.
Set visibility
Choose private, unlisted or public, or schedule publication. Check the date and time before saving.
Watch it once as a viewer
Open the preview with sound and watch the opening without skipping. Is it clear what is coming? Does the description contain the right link? If you mention another resource, check that someone arriving from your video can actually find it.
Leave a buffer before publication. A completed upload does not mean every resolution has finished processing. If a high-quality launch matters, wait until that version is available and check it. Avoid promising a release time without leaving room for this review.
When the upload is not what you expected
Check your connection and the specific messages in Studio. Videos longer than 15 minutes require account verification. If you uploaded the wrong version, return to your saved project and prepare the correct export before continuing.
After publishing, open the link from another session where possible to confirm access. Do not treat an unlisted link as private: someone receiving it can pass it on. Keep one note about what to check next time and turn it into your own upload checklist. The aim is a repeatable process, not a stressful last-minute launch.
